My 24 Baby Product Essentials
I spent the past couple months enjoying new favourite hobby, researching baby products.
After consulting friends, ChatGPT, and a few lists of favourite baby products from other Mom entrepreneurs, I put together a list of what to buy and had a field day one Friday when I just didn’t feel like working and instead decided to place my entire baby gear order all at once.
(I’ve never had so many packages arrive nor had so much cardboard to throw out in my life.)
I know a lot of my audience & students are new mothers and figuring out what you need can be a lot to navigate, so I hope this list of what we bought helps!
Newborn Essential Items To BUY:
Pro tips: Get it in a light color, because any baby milk spit up will leave beige marks on a dark colored carrier.
Also the mesh, while slightly pricier, will dry quicker than the Jersey fabric, so if being able to quickly wash & dry a carrier matters to you (it likely will), mesh is the way to go.
Because playmats can be beautiful and add pattern to your room!
Cybex Balios S Lux Stroller and accompanying bassinet
This video convinced me the Cybex was the stroller to go for. We got it in the chocolate brown color and it’s absolutely beautiful in real life.

Woodies Dark Wooden Noble Crib
It was surprisingly difficult to try to find a crib I loved the look of which shipped to Switzerland.
I was almost ready to throw in the towel and accept getting just anything and painting it to try to have it fit the style I wanted when I stumbled upon this one. It’s gorgeous and ships worldwide.
Longchamp Le Pilage L with this fitting Organization Insert as a Diaper Bag
When it came to a diaper bag I wanted something we would actually use long-term even after the needing-a-diaper-bag phase, and something which wouldn’t look completely out of place when my husband is toting it around in the stroller.
Longchamp bags are super easy to wipe clean and wash, they just don’t have any organization to them, a problem quickly solved with an insert. (The organizationl insert linked above fits the Le Pilage L bag perfectly.)
Apparently these ladies on reddit did the same thing, so I’m thrilled to have found a good ‘diaper bag which doesn’t look like a diaper bag’ solution.
Grownsy Baby Bottle Washer (or the Momcozy KleanPal Pro Baby Bottle Washer alternative)
Sterilizers have always been a thing, but a new Mom friend let me know that there’s now bottle washer & sterilizer & dryer machines which do all 3!
(Previously you had to hand wash or dishwasher wash the bottles on a special cycle and then put them into a sterilizer & dryer. I’d rather not need to run a half-full dishwasher just because I need more bottles, or need to constantly be going back to my kitchen to move items from one machine to the other, so I loved the idea of a machine which does all 3 steps in one.)
This YouTube short compares the 5 top bottle washers & sterilizers & dryers out there, which led me to determine either the Momcozy or the Grownsy bottle washers would be best.
Being in the entrepreneur world, I’ve learned a fair bit about how products and manufacturing works, so I’m 99.9% confident both the Momcozy and the Grownsy baby bottle washers come from the same factory somewhere in China and are basically the exact same thing.
So I just went with the one which was cheapest & easiest to get my hands on locally, and I’d encourage you to do the same.
HelloBaby No WiFi Baby Monitor
As someone who frequently does not have her phone anywhere near her, takes 3 weeks to get back to a text and generally likes not having notifications constantly going off at her, I wanted a baby monitor with an actual separate screen, not an app on my phone which would require me to then have my phone on me when away from my child.
This ‘dumb monitor’ is top rated, fits the actual features I want and how I like to live my life perfectly.
Turn any dresser or surface into a changing spot, so you don’t need to get a changing table you’ll only use short-term or which doesn’t fit the decor of your home.
Beautiful and no plastic as… I’m no scientist, but I’m assuming heating plastic a lot can’t be good for health.
(Go for the larger 240ml/8oz or similar size as if you get the little 120ml/4oz bottles, you’ll need to replace them later as your child drinks more.)
The 240ml/8ox bottles fit well into the Grownsy/Momcozy bottle washers. The old 225ml Bibs bottles which are taller & thinner justtt barley fit.
Every new parent friend said to get it, so you have somewhere convenient to put your child down while you do life.
Love To Dream Sleep Machine (Portable Light & Sound Machine)
Works as a dim light, including both white and red light and white noise. (Red light wakes your brain up less, making it easier to get back to sleep than if you used white light as is typical on most light/noise machines).
I love this item so much… I may need to get a second when my baby moves into the nursery so we can each have one.
Cyrillus Gingham Check Snowsuit
The officially most adorable piece of clothing I’ve ever seen.
Has booties, fold-over hands, & a hood so you don’t need to faff with mittens & hats falling off.
Tripp Trapp High Chair & Baby Seat
I had assumed we would just buy our high chair later on when our baby can sit properly, but a friend mentioned this high chair has a newborn seat which is a convenient place to hold a baby when cooking, eating, etc. and it keeps them higher up than the Baby Bjorn bouncer, so we went ahead and got it already from day one.
Amazon Basics Non-Slip Clothes Hangers for Babies/Toddlers
Your current hangers won’t fit teeny tiny baby clothes, so these are a practical purchase.
