 I launched my first course back in 2018 and while some things have stayed constant since then, a LOT has changed too. So today I thought I’d share what bits I’d do the same way again, what bits I'd do differently and exactly how I’d go about becoming a 6 figure course creator if I were to do it all over again now!

First, I’ll talk about the steps I’d take even before I build a course and then the steps I’d take during course build & launch phases!

(So you can swipe these steps and get to that magical 6 figure milestone!)

STEP 1:

FOCUSING ALL MY EFFORTS ON LIST BUILDING & ENGAGEMENT

This is what I did years ago and this is one aspect which has not changed a bit over time!

An email list is still absolutely the most valuable asset of any online business. Granted, just “having” a list and not providing value to them won’t bode well for your upcoming course launch.

You need to:

1. Build the list and

2. Consistently show up with valuable content so they grow accustomed to thinking “Darn, that girl sends such GREAT emails! I’m going to open the next one too!”

Be sure to be sending regular emails with free, fabulous content inside between now and your launch. A warm list if key to landing a rush of sales! Launching to a list you haven’t talked to in months won’t bode well when doors to your course do open.

STEP 2.

PUSH FEAR ASIDE AND LAUNCH SOONER

I had an email list of about 3,000 subscribers when I launched my first course. 

I was nervous that “no one will buy” for months before I plucked up the courage to actually launch a course. 

Looking back, I definitely didn’t need to wait for a list of 3,000, I could have launched successfully a LOT sooner.

There is absolutely such a thing as “too small of a list to launch successfully” (looking at you lists of 79 subscribers!)…

But there’s also such a thing as “you’re legit losing potential sales because you’re taking 2 years to launch while you work towards some magical email list size and by that time, half the people on your list who needed your course went and bought something else to solve their problem.”

STEP 3. 

INVEST IN A COURSE BUILDING MENTOR / BUSINESS COACH

Back in the day I didn’t have a clue what actually went into a proper launch, what I needed to prepare before the launch started or even how to design an effective sales page.

And this is the kind of thing you really can’t copy from the outside, because there’s soooo much more to a launch then a challenge topic or sales emails or even sales page design!

A lot goes on behind the scenes that you just can’t deconstruct without seeing the whole picture, so I invested in a business coach that WOULD give me the whole picture!

I could ask them all questions big and small as I created my course and launched, which meant I could turn off my brain and just do the work, efficiently. They don’t offer that program in the same way anymore, but it was massively valuable to me at the time.

  • To make it easy for you to plan your life, there’s one call each week. These aren’t your typical “1 hour coaching calls” however, on these calls we deep dive into that weeks piece of curriculum where I’ll teach it live, give you your marching orders & homework for the week and then welcome your questions. Often these calls will be a couple hours long.

  • You may submit your work for feedback on Thursday and will receive your feedback by end of day Monday. This schedule ensures two things: You have a deadline to get that work done by, ensuring your stay accountable to your schedule AND you can get your feedback back extremely quickly so you can move through the work at lightening speed.
